Autumn getaway with friends
Bring your favorite group of friends and visit Tromsø in autumn. Explore our regions many mountains or enjoy the citylife with shopping, culture and magical food experiences. In the Arctic Capital we got the best of two worlds: a urban city life and refreshing nature experiences, sometimes with the northern lights dancing in the sky!
Rent bikes and go on an adventure around the Tromsø island. We suggest checking out Telegrafbukta on the southside where you can BBQ your own lunch, or enjoy the view of Tromsdalstinden mountain as you go biking around Prestvannet on top of the island.
If you like the sea, our suppliers have several options for refreshing boat tours.
Relax and let your shoulders down in the jacuzzi on the roof of Clarion Hotel Aurora or in some of the many pools at Tromsøbadet.
Did you know that you can experience the spectacular northern lights in the Tromsø region from the end of August?
On Kvaløya, only a 10 minute drive from the city centre, you will find mountains and hikes that fit all levels. Go on a chill hike up to Nattmålsfjellet, or do the more advanced hike to Buren on the opposite side of the road. No matter which hike you choose, you will be rewarded with amazing views on the way up and on the top. Close to the city centre you can hike the Sherpa stairs up to the Cable Car and where you get the iconic postcard picture of Tromsø.
Tromsø has it all, and in addition to cool nature experiences, we also have a cool culture scene. In Perspektivet museum you can learn more about author Cora Sandel, or join the makerspace and exhibitions at Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum. Learn more about the history of Northern Norway and Tromsø at the Arctic University Museum of Norway and Polarmuseet. At Blåst glass blowing studio you can purchase beautiful handmade products of glass.
The term «Tromsø nighthlife city» emerged in the 1970’s and there’s a lot of history in Ølhallen Brewpub at Mack. You can also join guided tours in the brewery. Every year, new cafés and restaurants pop up in Tromsø. We suggest bringing your friends for breakfast or brunch at Smørtorget or Helmersen, and have dinner with local ingredients and flavors at Fiskekompaniet or Mathallen. End the night with drinks at Bardus or with a beer or glass of wine at Skarven.
If you’re spending a few extra days in our city, we suggest renting a car and go on a roadtrip in the region. The Lyngen Alps are waiting and offers spectacular experiences. If you follow the National Tourist Route on the fairytale island of Senja you will see everything from white sand beaches to Instagram-friendly mountains.
Welcome to Tromsø!
