About Norwegian Wild

Norwegian Wild is a family-run campsite where the genuine and close incounter with nature is important to us. The sea, nature and the people are our driving force.

We do what we can to keep nature and the sea clean by respecting trackless traffic, sorting and picking up rubbish, protecting the environment and practicing sustainability.

The «Norwegian Wild» was born i May 2017 as a family adventure. The couple, Hege and Stig Dekkerhus moved from Tromsø to Senja to run the camp. Hege saw the potential and magic of this old campsite built in the late 1960s. The idea of nature-based activity and experiences and what is typical Norwegian took shape.

Norwegian Wild is located close to the sea in the adventurous Tranøybotn, 30 minutes drive from Finnsnes. The campsite is located right by the entrance to Ånderdalen National Park, which offers a well-prepared hiking area for the public. Norwegian Wild offers courses, trips and expeditions with kayaking and dog sledding in collaboration with Senja Husky.

All our cabins have been refurbished inside, furnished with care and love in anticipation of the new ones. We want to honor the coast, the fisherman and the history of the area. These are reflected in small details in interior and color choices. The place is described as genuine and tranquil, a place where nature is in focus and outdoor life is your playground. A perfect base to experience the rest of the fairytale island of Senja.

Year-round campsite with place for 40 tents. Parking for mobile homes and caravans costs NOK 250 without electricity and NOK 290 with electricity.

There is one allergy-friendly room in The Lighthouse. Pets may be allowed upon pre-booking.

Disabled facilities: toilets and showers in the main service building. There are hiking trails where one can use a wheelchair in the vicinity.

The campsite has a small playground and of course, amazing natural surroundings for families to enjoy.
