This tour is conducted by Active Tromsø. Explore the magnificent world of glaciers with this guided adventure.
We will take you to the unique Steindalsbreen, a 10000 year old glacier which lies on the west side of Storfjord in the Lyngen Alps.
General information
Glaciers are a natural phenomenon and it is truly amazing to walk on the surface ice which formed in the Late Stone Age. As this ice flowed over time, deep crevasses, canyons, sculptures, waterfalls and blue pools are formed – the variety of the glacier is countless! Your specialised and local guide will share his knowledge with you and guide you safely through these natural wonders.
You have a long day ahead of you, so go to bed early the night before and eat a full breakfast in the morning of the trip. The hike to the foot of the glacier takes about 2 – 2 ½ hours, passing through an idyllic terrain of mountain pastures, forests and rivers.
We equip you with specialist gear and go over safety features before setting foot on Steindalsbreen.
From this point, the adrenalin will kick in as you conquer this majestic glacier.
